During the 1970s and 80s There was a KOA Camp RV Park , across the Bike Path. This was a real cool park in the shade and next to the river. It was sold in the late 90s . When the rush really began in 1880. Around the same time the Union Pacific Railroad was pushing the Oregon Short Line across southern Idaho from Ogden to Portland. The enormous amount of freight from the Valley, via wagons like the Lewis Bros. Stage Lines, was noted by the railroad and a branch line was built north from Shoshone, arriving at Hailey on May 7, 1883 .The last ski trains to come to Sun Valley was in January and March of the 1973. Passenger service had been dying slowly for almost a decade. The last train to Ketchum arrived in November 1981.The following summer the ICC authorized the Railroad to abandon the Branch. Five years later crews salvaged the ties and tracks. Now The Wood River Bike Path runs on the old railbed. Good Geo Hunting. Al,Charlie and Maggie
