From MetsFanInNH, It is really not too difficult to get here. From the fence at the corner of the park, walk straight until you hit the trail. Turn right until you hit a trail that is going downhill. Turn left and follow that trail downhill until it deadends. Turn right and talk a leisurely stroll down the trail (unless the ATVers are out) until you hit the railbed and there you are. Probably about 0.6 mi roundtrip using this method
NOTE: There is a 2nd cache on location that is NOT and ammo can. Next person can you please remove. I could not find it and had 3 year old bossing me around AMMO CAN IS CACHE Another one of Sussex County's Railbed trails. As you approach the entrance to the darkness from the East, the cache is about 40-50' North-East (45 degrees) of you. NO NEED TO CLIMB DOWN OR UP CLIFFS!!!! Unless you want yo at you peril. Very loose rock if you do so.. I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU STICK TO TRAILS...Pretty easy cache not far from the road. Stay to the trails .The dark place is a little intimidating. Spring, cold some ice left very pleasant/Summer a nice cool place to relax to cool down / Fall. Cool and moist / Winter cool nit as cold as outside. Ice formations on ceiling and floor mind your step. A good bright flashlight suggested as to 2 ends of tunnel screw your eyes up.
