Located near the center of Kawerau. There is geothermal activity within 100 meters of the cache so caution is required.
There are several ways to approach this cache, the 1st & recommended is by parking at S 38° 05.271', E 176° 41.607' From here you can do both this cache & Ruranga Ramble GCHAZA.
The scenic route is the council track off River Road at S 38°05.522' E 176°41.629'
The shortest way (but a little more demanding) is by parking at S 38° 05.361', E 176° 41.986' & following the goat track(s). This parking is next to the above mentioned
geothermal area.
Whilst visiting the cache I met up with a fellow walking his dogs, he was using a mobility scooter & had come via the River Road entrance to the park. So this cache is do-able for anyone with a wheelchair or scooter. A helper would be needed to do the last couple meters.
