Geocache Description:

An easy park and grab just off the busy highway. You will find it while standing on the bridge. You do not have to go below.

El Camino Real, Royal Road, or Kings Highway-which ever you choose to call it, it is the same roadway.

Designated as a National Historic Trail in 2004, El Camino Real de los Tejas (Highway 6 in Louisiana and Highway 21 in Texas) has existed for more than 300 years.

El Camino Real has its easternmost beginning in Natchitoches, Louisiana and runs from the Piney Woods through rolling hills to the arid lands of Mexico.

The Spaniards and the French that marked the trail were followed by such men as Moses Austin and his son Stephen Fuller Austin (The Father of Texas), Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, and early missionaries of multiple faiths.

You are looking for a magnetic key holder containing a log, a pen and our signature wooden coin. After signing please replace the cache in the same location. Be sure to read the plaque on the bridge!! Was this bridge placed here in 1922 on the main road and then the roadway course was changed to what we drive on today? I can hardly believe the county would pay for this type of bridge to be built if it was not part of the highway at one time.

But wait!!! Highway 21 is The King's Highway!! This bridge is located on Highway 7. The roads do come together as one approaches Crockett, but this bridge is a long way from highway 21.

O well-a bridge is a bridge and a cache is a cache, so have fun and buenos suerte, yall!
