SH ~ Middle Run
Cemetery
The “SH” in the cache name above signifies a Spirit Hunt, a project
by the Miami Valley Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are
set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that
series created by MVG members to highlight cemeteries in the area.
Please be respectful of the area. Cache should NOT be done after
sunset.
This cemetery is located next to the Middle Run Predestinarian
Baptist Church. The church dates from the late 18th century and was
located on high ground to scout for Indians. In early days the
church met only once a month. Being a member of the Baptist
Association, members would travel monthly to different Baptist
Churches to meet. In days of persecution this was for protection
sake. During pioneer days it was still the practice so as to share
ministers more easily. [Most of this information was collected
on-line; if anyone has additional details, I'd be glad to add them
here.]
Cache has room for trades. Starts out with a FTF pin, a yellow
jeep TB, and other goodies.
Please search with care - I saw SEVERAL birds nests with eggs as I
searched for a hiding spot.
