Important: Read this page before
you seek this cache! Do not trust your GPS's autorouting!
This little cache is provided to help those who seek completion of
the WDC. It is meant to be short and sweet, with the possible
exception of the road trip required to get here.
This is FluteFace's Gratuitous Trailside Micro for
Page 102, otherwise known as FF'sGTM4P102.
Although, as of this writing, I have not quite finished my own
quest, it has become readily apparent that there are some map pages
in the Washington Atlas & Gazeteer that are lacking in caches
for one reason or another. Page 102's problem is that most of the
page comprises part of the Colville Indian Reservation. But, the
north end of the page, the last mile or so, is actually in the
Colville National Forest and off of Colville Tribal land.
This cache can be accessed from the Thirteen Mile Trailhead (and
Campground), just off of Highway 21, south of Republic.
Do not trust your autorouting! This cache is best
accessed from Thirteen Mile Trailhead (and Campgound), which is
accessed directly from Hwy 21. The cache is less than .1 mile
from the pavement! It is not on tribal land. The cache
itself is just a few hundred feet up the trail from the small
campground, which is jointly managed by the Colville Confederated
Tribes and the US Forest Service. The tribal boundary line actually
runs through the middle of the campground and is well marked with a
newly installed benchmark.
You will be looking for a dark green decon container. (Many thanks
to Allanon for that!) You may very well say, "It's no fun looking
for a near-micro in the woods!" For you, I have included plenty of
spoiler pictures and clues to make this an easy find, worth only 1
star. The cache itself is no more than two steps off the trail, not
at all difficult to access. Please be gently with the area.
Vegetation should only need to be disturbed minimally, if at all.
And hopefully, you will be far enough away from the campground so
that muggles won't be a problem.
