A small ammo box hidden near a small mountain stream.
Hurricane Hollow is a small valley that begins between Bee Mountain and Pine Mountain in Bartow County and runs generally south, ending at the Etowah River. A splendid little stream, which begins at the upper end of the hollow, feeds a small lake located about one third of the way down the hollow. The cache is located within the Pine Mountain Recreation Area just off the West Loop hiking trail. From the trailhead, trail to the cache parallels the stream for a distance up the hollow.
Depending on the route taken to the cache, the hike to the cache may be as short as ¼ mile to much longer depending on the trailhead selected. The short route refers to the west parking lot trailhead for the west loop.
Several other excellent caches are located in the recreation area and some folks may decide to park in the east parking lot, follow the east loop trail to the Pine Mountain summit and on continue on down to the west loop to find this cache, and then return to the east parking lot, finding caches all along the way. Hiking both loops in this manner results in a hike of nearly five miles.
Regardless of the access selected, the cache is approached from the west loop trail and is located just a short distance from the trail. After finding the cache, please insure that no part of the cache is visable from the trail.
