The Southside Odyssey Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hotlanta: Finally got around to driving the route and checking up on this multi-cache. Well there were a couple stages that were either missing or damaged beyond repair. This got me to wandering if this cache should be repaired or retired. The whole route from the house to the final stage and back was just over 100 miles. So due to the economy, gas prices and lack of time I pick retirement for this cache. I appreciate all those who ventured out and drove all those miles to find this cache. Don’t be surprised to see a new single stage cache pop up soon close to this site.

Geocache Description:

***The cache is not at posted coords***
I was given the honor of hiding this cache by the fine folks of the Southside Gang. Given that fact; this mystery-cache is hidden “Southside Style”.

***The cache is not at posted coords***
This journey will led you on a series of four caches; there are three different style (and pretty well hidden, figure a 3 or 4 rating in difficulty) micro’s and the final cache. Each micro contains a log sheet with some letters and numbers which you plug into the final caches coordinates, which is given below. Please sign the log at each stage, this way I can verify who completed the entire cache. Once you have found all three micros you should be able to find the final grand prize cache. If you were at the Southside Gang Challenge Event 2006, you will know what you are looking for. If not……I guess you will have to figure it out when you get there. At the final cache bushwhacking will be required (I recommend long leg pants 'cause there are no man-made trails),but no streams to cross. Also suggested is bug spray, a walking stick and a good sense of humor. Let the journey begin!

Here are the three Micros you will need to find first: But not necessarily in this order!

1. Paul’s Micro : Two Part Multi-cache. These coords: N33 09.991 W084 50.079, will bring you to the final resting place of Simon and Fannie Cousin. Your mission; if you choose to except it, is to find the gravesite and headstone of Simon and Fannie Cousin. Once you have found the headstone take the year of Simon’s death and add 8087. The sum will be AA.AAA. Now take the year that Fannie was born and subtract 1794, the answer will be BB. Plug these letters into the following coords and this will led you to the final stage of this micro mission.

N33 AA.AAA W084 50.0BB

2. Pilgrims Micro: Traditional Micro. N33 14.114 W084 35.007 This is a “simple” micro…….kind of. You can park close to the cache.

3. Elmore’s Micro: Traditional Micro. N33 18.522 W084 33.745 Almost a drive by cache…..almost. Nice quiet place, so take your time and enjoy.

4. Final Cache Coords: N33 07.AAA W0BB 02.CCC When you get to the final cache, I suggest you walk down the road about 200 yards past the gate before entering the woods. This will make your bushwacking a little easier.

**** Congratulations Phillip4 on being the FTF! ****
