Lansing's Local Letterbox Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

berryzang: Well it's been 6 weeks since someone found this cache. Since it's been around for over a year and a half I'm going to archive it in case someone else wants to place another cache in the general vicinity. As of 3:45 PM I pulled the cache. Nothing remains at this spot. Thanks to all that visited!

Geocache Description:

Located in Fenner Arboretum. It is open from 8AM until dusk. No dogs are allowed in the park. The trail to the cache is almost all a mowed grass trail. It is a .33 mile walk to the cache. If you continue on the blue trail back to the starting point it is a .62 mile loop. It took me about 5 minutes to walk to the cache, and about 9 1/2 minutes for the loop.

I've been wanting to place a Letterbox/Hybrid cache in the Lansing area for a while now. Today I finally got off my butt and did it.

This cache can be reached in one of two ways. Either follow your GPS to the coordinates listed above, or follow the clues below. It's your choice. The cache is located on the blue trail. There is a stamp inside the cache. It is in the Altoids box. Please do not take this stamp. My ink pad was dried out so until I post it on here, please bring your own ink pad if you want to stamp your book. Please also make sure to keep the cache well-covered.

LETTERBOX DIRECTIONS
The coordinates to the starting point are N42 42.549 W84 31.179.
Start at the wooden post with the blue arrow and follow which way it points. You will be walking through the meadow. The path curves to the left around a group of trees surrounding a small pond.
Continue on the path until you come to a Y in the trees where you are given the choice of going over a scary bridge. Continue over the scary bridge through the trees and out into the meadow again.
You will pass a bench on the right and come to a Sugar Maple tree on the left. At the base of this tree there is a rock with a plaque on it.
From this tree, continue south about 17 paces and you will stop to the west of a group of trees. The cache is located at the base of the center tree.

If you wish, you can continue on the blue trail back to your car. It loops back around to the nature center. When you reach the paved portion of the trail follow it to the left and you will be back at the nature center.

Hope you enjoy my first letterbox!
