Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Banner Forrest and dedicated to my old blind deaf caching partner I sometimes refer to in my logs. This old fellow has attended a few events and visited more caches than most Peninsula Cachers have. The pic below is him resting on top, after doing the Mt. Ellinor Cache, before heading back down, three years ago.

Toby is a thirteen year old, 100+ lb, Black Lab with bad hips, 95% hearing loss, and cataract clouded eyes. He is an avid cacher as long as it includes a walk, even more so if it's a place he's never sniffed before. Three years caching together, and he still gets frustrated when I pace back and forth, trying to decide which side of the trail to search. We’ve had many memorable times, like when he tumbled down the embankment at Sol Duc River Walk or wandered off in the dark at N.A.D. Park: Travel Bug Depot. There’s also the week I spent on pain pills and muscle relaxers after picking him up and putting him in the truck because he was too old to jump in himself at Log It!!. I'll always wonder what he was thinking driving home thru the snow storm on White Pass after the windows in the truck canopy fell off on the fire road returning from S Fork Ahtanum while working on the Washington DeLorme Challenge. And yes I do feel guilty leaving him home and mtn biking to the final after riding in the back of the truck, thousands of miles collecting quads. Since the pinched nerve episode, I no longer pick him. And since he hates the ramp I built him to get in and out of the truck himself, he doesn’t get out as much as he used to. Which brings us to this cache, it’s a one mile walk from the Banner Rd parking area, to find an ammo box 15’ off a side trail, just off the main trail. Cache is full of dog toys and a couple kid items. Most important, this cache is Toby approved, and he HIGHLY recommends bringing the pooches.
