Geocache Description:

When we placed Gem Rock Hill, GCQ2FQ, almost seven months ago, we promised ourselves we’d come back and place another cache at beautiful Rockhound State Park. Well finally, here it is.

Admission to the park is $5.00 per vehicle or $40.00 for a day use pass good for twelve months from date of purchase. As always when visiting public lands, tread lightly so future generations can enjoy tomorrow what we are enjoying today.

What comes to your mind when you think of Rockhound State Park? For many it’s the ability to collect rocks and minerals such as agates and quartz crystals. For us it’s the breathtaking clear skies that New Mexico is so famous for. And the sound of the birds singing their sweet songs. And the whir of a hummingbirds wings as it flits right past your head. And spotting a desert critter going about its business. And the views, different and equally enthralling from every angle, ever changing depending on the time of day and how the light strikes the mountains. Whatever draws you to the park, spend some time to enjoy all that it has to offer.

The cache is uphill - or maybe down - depending on what side of the park you choose to start your journey from. It’s not far off the trail but be sure to watch your footing on the rocks. And as always when walking in the desert, be aware of your surroundings and mindful of those desert critters. Your looking for a decon container with a log book, pencil and some small trade items.
