Geocache Description:

One of three caches placed in the general vicinity of where I grew up!

This was built in 1959 after the previous one was destroyed by fire. It was built through working bees and funded by local donations and fundraising by the local ladies’ auxiliary.

It is still used in the community for various functions.

As you travel up the road (southwards), you will pass several sites of community facilities from days gone by.
300m on left – old school (1903 - 1967). Now a private residence.
700m on left – St Paul’s Church of England. Now a private residence.
700 m on left (behind the church) – site of two tennis courts (originally asphalted in 1922; one was later concreted). Now privately owned.
1 km on left – old Post Office and Shop (1890’s – 2001). Now a private residence.
2.1km on right – site of Recreation Ground, purchased by Wynyard Council in the 1920’s. Predominant home of Yeoman Cricket Club until 1970. Public Works Dept Depot for many years, now privately owned.

Cache is now a micro as I think original, which was hidden in the grounds, went in a community clean-up!!!
