Wild Iris: Car Cache (P.I.T.A.) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

fidian: Cache trashed. If you go there and get the first stage, I'll still let you count it as a find, but you had better be quick and get there before Friday evening.

Geocache Description:

This difficult hide should let you enjoy the park. When your kids get bored, there's a playground nearby.

Welcome to Wild Iris Park, where I am not aware of a single wild iris growing. You can use the coordinates of the first cache to find a good place to park. What you are looking for is very well hidden, so allocate an appropriate amount of time. This is NOT a park-n-grab. If you succeed, you will get the coordinates of the actual cache. The walk is a pleasant ¼ mile, mostly down a paved trail. The container is about the same size as an extra-large peanut butter jar, and is covered in camo tape.

This is a car-themed cache. It would be nice (but not required) to trade for a little car, antenna ball, keyring, or other similar item that relates to cars. The cache itself is placed near a friend's house. Walk to the swamp and wave to the houses if you like.

Cache originally loaded with these items:

If you are unsuccessful, please eventually log a "did not find". If you try a couple times and need a hint, I may email you one. This cache is designed to be tougher than average. However, you should be able to trust your GPS because I spent a lot of time trying to get good coordinates.

Explanation of attributes:

  • Park is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • Dogs are allowed on a leash and if you clean up after them. There are special doggie bags available at the far end of the trail.
  • Bikes are allowed and mountain bikes can have a pretty easy time getting to the second stage if you pick the right path.
  • There is a playground and picnic tables by the first stage, as well as a parking lot for the park.
  • The first stage was checked after a heavy snowfall and was winter accessible. The second stage is basically unaffected by weather.
  • The first stage is in view of anyone playing on the playground, so be sneaky. Also, you may wish to just skip this cache if there's a car parked in the "ideal" parking location for this cache. It appears that someone uses the park as a park-and-ride lot.
  • You'll likely hit some thorny brush and maybe some sort of itchweed on your way to the second cache.
  • It's a nice walk, and that's the reason the cache was placed in this park.
