The first task for this cache is to extract the name of a film that has won the Best Picture award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (also known as an Oscar) from the boggle board shown here.
Boggle is a word game in which you find words from the 4 x 4 array by linking consecutive letters together. There are several rules for making a legal word in Boggle:
- Must contain three or more letters
- Each letter must touch the previous letter either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally
- The same Boggle cube can't be used more than once in the same word
There are many words in this Boggle board, but there is only one word or set of words that correspond to an Oscar-winning film. If the film has more than one word, each word is independent (i.e., does not need to connect to previous word).
Once you have the name of the film, it is time to do some simple algebraic manipulation to get the coordinates. Let a = # of words in name of film and b = number of letters in name of film.
Then:
g - a = e
f + g = d
c + d + e = b
c - d = g
b + e = c + d
g - f = h
d + f = i
i + f = j
The coordinates for the magnetic key holder are 47 41.cij and 122 20.ghe.
