Geocache Description:

Welcome to Mesa, Washington

The town of Mesa was originally homesteaded by Martha Hunt Poe in 1887. After her death in 1897, her half brother, Lanier Judson Wiltfong, along with Martha's three children, plotted additional homesteads that became the town of Mesa.

In the centennnial year, the population of Mesa was approximately 265. Lucille Poe Bailie, a direct descendant of one of the orginal town founders, along with her husband Ray Bailie, continue to farm one of the orginal homesteads.
