Errata, Erratum, Corrigendum Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ohjoy!: So sad to see this one go - it had a great story behind its reason for being placed here, and a it was a beautiful location.

Learning that this area now has private property signs, I accepted the offer from Dirujo and PioneerWoman to retrieve the container for me to use elsewhere.

Geocache Description:

I strongly suggest that you bring the directions and hint with you.

errata: a list of corrigenda or a page bearing such a list

erratum: ERROR

corrigendum: an error in a printed work discovered after printing and shown with its correction on a separate sheet

ohjoy!’s erratum: on August 31, 2005 I submitted Addiction Cache #4 and gave the longitude as 122º instead of 123º.

ohjoy!’s corrigendum: on September 2, 2005 the cache was published. I soon discovered my erratum and thanks to some fast work by approver Max Cacher, it was quickly corrected.

ohjoy!’s errata: I won’t bore you with this list! Believe me, I’ve made every error possible. It keeps me humble.

ohjoy!’s embarrassment: during those few hours the wrong coords were downloaded by four cachers who were in that area the next day. You can read their DNF logs from September 3 at GCQCD7.

ohjoy!’s first: Determining the coordinates BEFORE placing the cache.

ohjoy!’s HUGE THANKS: to LittleBlue, LandRover, Og’s outfit and Andrewrj for your understanding, your light-hearted logs, and the challenge to me to actually place this cache. On October 25, 2005 I drove 125 miles to place this cache in your honor. It is dedicated to you.

So how are you going to find it? It is in deep forest with indeterminate satellite readings. I approached it from the road three times and got to the same general area each time. My advice – USE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.

Parking and Entry: There is good parking at N 47º 00.190 W 122º 00.380. Walk SE along the road until your GPS shows you at almost right angles to the cache. You should see a small social trail entering the woods between two telephone poles. You will have to do minor bushwhacking for the first 100’ after which it becomes an easy uphill walk.

Locating the Cache: Look for a single, large, erratic rock. (not the first one you see just after entering the forest - the one farther up the hill) Facing uphill you should see a large, very long, decomposing log to your left. Stand between the rock and the log and look at a bearing of ~ 210º magnetic uphill along the log to a stump. Go there. The cache is an uncammoed PB jar behind a rock.

Enjoying Yourself: This is an incredibly beautiful spot. While trying to get Little Yellow to settle on the correct location, I covered a lot of territory and enjoyed it immensely. It was quiet. It was peaceful. And yes, actually true to what it said in the corrigendum, it is a place to reflect.
