The morning we left Kaua'i, we took a early morning hike to leave a gift for our geocaching friends on the Garden Isle. We had so many wonderful experiences here, this was the least we could do. Had it not been for Geocaching, many if not most of the sites sounds and wonders of Kaua'i may have been missed.
Follow in our footsteps as you experience a piece of this Garden Isle. Enjoy a peaceful walk/hike up a quiet trail leading towards Kuilau Ridge. The trail could be a bit muddy if it's been raining, and chances are it may have been. It is NOT wheelchair friendly. Sorry!! The trail is NOT steep!!! It's just a very nice walking trail. You may spot a stray dog or two along the way. The ones we saw were frightened and just wanted to get home and went on past. You'll understand once you find the start of the trail.
Find the Moalepe Trail, Kondo Gate.
Park at N22º 04.985 W159º 23.046 @ Olohena Road & Waipouli Road.
We walked at a brisk and steady pace for thirty minutes. Look for the tree hanging on to the trail/road that appears to look like a willow at N22º 05.505 W159º 24.142, about 200 paces past one of the mileage markers. Leave the trail/road and enter the woods to your left. You need not go farther than about 50' in, bearing to your right as you go.
