One Hundred Down Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Small cylindrical container for small trade items and TBs in a busy semi-urban place.

* ONE HUNDRED DOWN *

On May 10th, 2005, I (RedwoodRed) had gastric bypass surgery. After four years of research, fighting with insurance companies, myriad numbers of wild tests and just finding doctors willing to help me, I was being reborn on the operating table. This cache is in commemoration of the first milestone attained along my weight-loss journey.

I went on a liquid protein diet prior to surgery and lost 36 lbs. Since my surgery I have lost 70+ pounds more. Thus the name of this cache: One Hundred Down. I can't even begin to tell you how much more energy I have, but I can walk a mile a day and feel great. I'm swimming twice a week and go to physical therapy one day a week. I literally need to learn how my body works all over again. I feel better now than I have over the past 12 years! I have decided to try doing caches with 2.0 ratings on the terrain, and work my way to the more and more difficult ones as I lose weight and eventually work towards the "Two Hundred Down" and "Three Hundred Down" caches, so watch for them.

If you are interested in my journey, I'd be happy to answer emails. If you would like more information on gastric bypass or weight-loss surgery, visit www.obesityhelp.com.

The cache is placed near an area where the name of it may have another meaning. Please use stealth, and be considerate of your surroundings.

This cache was originally placed for the Second Annual Cool Coastal Retreat Event - August 13, 2005, but it that container was muggled. Actually, I think someone mowing found it and never turned it in. It is now in a smaller container, at the same coordinates, but hidden in a way that the person mowing shouldn't find it. Be gentle with the container so it will last. Not big enough to hide a CD, but enough for small trade items and TBs.
