Is It Really Scenic? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

entropysedge: Well, some of ya'll will be real happy to see that this cache will not longer show up on your searches... I stopped by for a maintainace check and the cache was gone like it had never been there. Being that it has managed to freak out various people because it was not a lovely spot to go and I've gotten tired of the emails telling me that I had no business putting a cache in this spot, I decided not to replace the cache.
Unfortunatly the only way to discourage an element of the type discribed is there to be increased traffic to an area as well as cleaning up trash so that it looks like someone cares about the area (this has been proven in the city)
I would like to thank everyone who did take the time to stop by this little visited part of the D&R Canal Park; maybe there will be a time that people can stop by here and enjoy this area...

Geocache Description:

Just a short walk in the woods, just watch out for the stickers by the cache

11/20/05 - This is not a place to take the children!! This area has been known to have unsavory types wandering about (it is a rest stop on a major highway after all) and there has been reports this that you may not want the little ones to see. Personally the only people I have come across in the woods was a couple of NJ state troopers. That being said...

This is my 1st cache! Its just off of Rt. 295 at the Scenic Overlook (which was put in to appease people who were upset with the disappearance of wetlands caused by the highway. People stop here to go fishing or just take a break from driving. 7/25/05 - I just got this email clarifying some of the details of this site that I didn't know - "The over look was put in to satisfy the demands placed on JNDOT by the D&R Canal Commission. D&R canal commission has final review of any project near the D&R Canal. The river that the cachers think they are walking is the conflunce of the Canal, Crosswicks Creek and the Delaware River. This is actually the remanents of Lock No.1 of the D&R canal. Another example of this is the foot bridge over US 1 in Lawrenceville. If you would like to see a restroed 1830's lock go to Boyde Park in New Brunswick." Thanks Drolyag for the additional info! The cache is an ammo box. I’m starting out the blue Ninja bike TB in here and its starting out with a tank pad, motorcycle hand grips and some other stuff. Now just let me know, is it scenic?
