Geocache Description:

This is an old Mink Ranch site (from the 1950's & 60's, I think) on Schist Lake that can be accesed by boat, quad, snowmobile, or a nice walk (just under an hour each way).

If you walk in, start from the part of the old highway locally known by the young partiers as 'The Hoop'. You will want to wear good waterproof hiking boots. Once you get around the beaver pond near the start (use the quad trail around the south side - note the old bear bait and stand - need a boat to get to it now!), it is very easy walking on the old road (wherever there is a fork in the trail, I advise taking the 'high road' - they all join again later anyway).
The cache should be fairly easy to find and is in a clear plastic container with a yellow lid, and contains the logbook, pencil & sharpener, along with the following items:
- a piece of tanned mink fur
- a piece of tanned rabbit fur
- a piece of tanned moose hide
- a dream catcher
- a loon lighter
- a mosquito trap
Hope you have a nice walk (or ride) in and enjoy looking around the area.
