This cache is located on a Nature Reserve run by the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust so please be respecful when visiting the cache. Park at the car park located at N52 32.698 W003 02.671 which is on a small track and through a gate. Although I have said that this is suitable for children, I would suggest that it is not good for very young children without strict supervision. Could be muddy in wet weather and is a fairly steep climb.
From the top of Roundton Hill it's easy to see why an Iron Age hillfort was sited here. In later years miners worked the hill for lead and barites from the volcanic rocks. Today the geological and industrial landscapes of Roundton Hill have created a variety of habitats for tiny ground hugging plants which thrive on areas of thin dry soil. There are many varieties of wild life including rabbits, ground nesting birds and birds of prey. Also look out for nesting boxes which have been provided for bats.
The views from the top are WELL worth it - 360 deg panorama, but you don't need to go to the top of the hill to complete this cache.
