Geocache Description:

Fairly simple cache on old mill site on Bacon, Fitch, Ashby, Clark Mill Site

Michael Bacon III (ca. 1640-1707) operated a corn mill on the west bank of the Shawsheen River off of Old Billerica Road.

That mill began operation as early as 1675.

In about 1730, Benjamin Fitch (1703-1770) purchased the land and mill from the Bacon family. The origional mill was destroyed in King Phillip's war, and was immediately rebuilt.

The Mill eventually passed to Herbert Clark, who sold it to the town of Bedford in 1947. The town demolished the mill and the dam in an attempt to improve storm drainage.

This cache is a small container with a log book and room for fairly small items. The internal size is about 3.5" wide by about 6" long.

I placed it near my work because I was very excited to find other caches local in that area too. It isn't much of a hike, but I didn't think that was so bad because it makes for good "lunch-time" caching adventure.

The initial contents of the cache are as follows:
- Bert Robotics, Team 133 Keychain
- Rubber Ducky
- BG High School Robotics Team 811 Robot Trading Card
- Generic Keys for Sun Microsystems Computer (small & large)
- $20 NT Coin from Taiwan
- $1 NT Coin from Taiwan
- $20 Pence Coin from England
- Red Cardinal Chop Ear Rings
- Buchanan for President Button
- Mini Delco Remy Radio w/ Earbuds
- Fake key with RED LED lit by pressing push button

Enjoy!
