Geocache Description:

An easy cache with the encrypted hints, and a tough one without it. 95% paved pathways or mowed grass.

This is an offset cache. The 1st location is an “architectural ruin” left from this site’s past history. I have no idea what this was, so feel free to speculate in your log. Using the features of the ruin you can determine the bearing to the cache with the following two clues.

[Update November 2006 here is a link to the history of Palia Park:] (visit link)

[Update April 2006, I've found an obscure referance to a 28 foot dish antnna on a 40 foot base that was located near the "Bicentenal Oak". This dish was used to track Sputnik I & II. After viewing a photo of such an antenna I believe this could be the base.]

Align the odd nut & the clean stud (the clean stud being closest to the cache). Hint: The clean stud is closer to it’s neighbor than any other).

The cache itself is located about the distance a good golfer can drive a ball off a tee, this might seem arbitrary, but should make sense once you find the bearing.

Not enough info? The bearing, distance and actual log/lat coordinates of the cache are contained in the encrypted hint. The cache itself is a mason jar. The initial contents are a carbineer compass flashlight thing, a paper punch, some stickers and WG bills. The travel bug Geoffrey is also starting his journey from this cache.

The park has a paved parking lot (located at 40.25624N, 74.023661W) and 3 miles of paved multiuse pathways suitable for walking, biking, and roller bladeing, if you’re so inclined.
