Geocache Description:

This cache was put out for SNOW SHOERS or X-COUNTRY SKIERS. Although you can drive to within 100yards in summer months. You could also walk during the winter as the trail is mostly packed by snowmobile trafic, but it would be a long walk.

To locate the cache you must find the first cache (Altoid tin). It is hidden at the location listed above. The main cache coords are written in the tin. The cache is about 1.5 miles from the first cache site. mostly level treck but is up hill last 100 yards.

The cache is a small D-Con container. It should be very easy to find summer or winter as the snow will not cover the cache.

Calamity Point has a little interesting history. No body seems to know the real origin of the name for sure. One story is as follows: It seems that in the late 1800's a gentelman came into the valley and set up a homestead. A few years later another man came into the area and decided he wanted the first guys place. So he wandered over that away and offered to buy it from him, NO SALE! This happened a few times and the first gentelman always turned down the offer.

So one day the second guy decided Enough is Enough! He walked up to the first guys front door and knocked. When the gentelman came to the door, the man shot him point blank in the forehead killing him.

The man then moved his family in and took over the homestead. As the years went by the valley folks excepted the place as Calamity Point. The family of the second man are sure their (Dad, Grandad, etc) bought the farm fairly and have always been frustrated by local stories to the contrairary. They say that Calamity Point never had a killing.

In the 1950's The Palisades dam was buit. A small grave yard was dug up at Calamity Point and moved so lake waters wouldn't flood the graves. One man they moved from that site was interesting. When they dug him up, seems he had on a bright green jacket, he was also sporting a bullet hole square in his forehead.

The body was entumed again in Swan Valley 2 to 3 miles form the dam in a now all but forgotten unmarked cemetary. We still to this day have a family sure their family got the farm by square means and a story that lingers still that leads one to believe other wise. And the farm? Well it's been at the bottom of the lake the past 60 years now. So...is this story is true? Your guess is good as mine.
