Geocache Description:

Ach du Lieber! Join us for a day of cache hunting, followed by an informal get together for pizza and beer (or soft drinks). NOTE:The Oktoberfest evening celebration is not at posted coordinates! See below.

Sunday, October 24th
9 a.m. ~ Watt Park in Glencoe
(N 42 07.444 x W87 45.215) - kick-off
We’ll meet in the morning to hand out coordinates and information about the existing and new caches in the area, then team up (or go alone) to hit the road for a day of cache hunting.

5 p.m. ~ Barnaby’s restaurant in Northbrook (N 42 08.100 x W 87 47.414) - dinner
After hunting caches all day, we’ll meet together again to swap stories, Travel Bugs, and celebrate Oktoberfest by raising a glass to toast the joys of geocaching over dinner.

Some of us who've discovered the fun of team hunting want to share it with more folks. We’re hoping to have a lot of new caches available by Oktoberfest, and we’ll meet in the morning at the park to hand out information on the new and existing local caches (computer to GPSr downloading will be available). But, we won’t be hanging around the park very long! We want to put the focus on cache hunting, so don’t expect to find us there after 10:30 (we’ll be out looking for local caches with the rest of you).

However, we’ll all be getting together at the end of the day for Oktoberfest-style socializing over pizza and beer (Dutch treat). No formal meetings, just a chance to brag about your "Finds" (or drown your "No-Find" sorrows) with a bunch of folks who love caching as much as you do! Even if you can’t make it for the morning kick-off or do any hunting during the day, you’re welcome to meet us for the Oktoberfest celebration in the evening.

Please post a note to this page if you're planning to join us, so we’ll know how many people to expect.

LATEST NEWS -
Wow! We didn't expect quite so many responses to this Event... but we're excited to see that so many of you are planning to come. Here are the latest updates on what's happening:

New Caches
We'll have a lot of new caches, and with the ones already installed, there should be no shortage. Special thanks to Bigethespe, Blues Man, and Unk for putting in some fun new hides. Some of the other new caches are a little unusual, and we'd really like to hear what you think about them, so if you hunt 'em, you'll have a special opportunity to give us your feedback at dinner. More details at the 9:00 am kick-off session. Some of these caches will be great for bikers, so bring your bike if you enjoy bicycle caching.

Late Sleeper's kick-off
Several folks said they won't be able to make it to the 9 - 10:30am kick-off at Watt Park, but if you can get to Watt Park at noon, we'll swing by to drop off cache info for the late comers. Meet us at 12 noon in Watts if you can't make it earlier.(N 42 07.444 x W87 45.215)

Don't be late for Dinner
Finally, we were only able to reserve enough space for 35 people at Barnabys during the dinner - and it looks like there's liable to be more of us than that! The folks at Barnabys assured us that if we arrive by 5 pm, there should be room for all, so if you're planning to attend the dinner, don't be late!
