Geocache Description:

Hallet Road in Stroud Township

Hello and welcome to another piece of the open space puzzle in Stroud Township. Formerly the site of a stone crusher for the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad, the Township purchased this 123-acre property in 2003 for passive and outdoor recreational activities. You may come across some no trespassing signs left over from the previous owner - please disregard these.

The entrance to the site is at 41° 2.477' x 75°13.432'. The entrance is right on a bend of Hallet Road - it's exactly 1.0 miles west of Route 191 on the right hand side of Hallet Road. You will see a gravel driveway with a small sign for the Herb and Elsie Smith residence - the grassy driveway to the site is just before that. If you drive back about 150 feet you'll be able to park beside a small pond. I've uploaded a photo showing the entrance to the site to help you find it.

The site is extremely hilly, although an old woods road will take you most of the way to the cache from the parking area. From the parking area head directly north into the woods, cross the stream, and you should see the woods road.

Alternately, you could park at the Red Rock swimming hole on Cherry Lane and walk down using waders, float down from that point, or walk up from the recycling center on Route 191. However, most of the land along the creek is privately owned, so you would need to stay in the stream.

Please be very careful on this site, particularly with pets and children. There are a number of steep drop-offs so do not let kids or dogs run ahead.

The initial cache contents are a variety of railroad debris and outdoor gear. The cache is a plastic box and is covered with rocks. It should be an easy find once you get to the site.

Thanks and good luck.
