A 2KM walk or bike to the summit of Cryn -y- Brain, quite steep in places, but well defined path
Welcome to Geo’s Cache the first of what we hope will be one of many placed by TEAM GeeJay.
Geo’s Cache is named in honour of George (Geo) part of our Team. Geo is a regular cacher along with his little sister Josie.
Geo’s Cache is situated near to the summit of Cryn-y-Brain at a height of 564 Metres we believe this to be the highest Cache in North East Wales. From the Cache (Weather permitting) you can see spectacular views all round, to the North you can see the summit of Moel Fammau, to the west the Berwyn’s and Snowdonia.
The most direct route to the cache is from the Pondarosa café on the Horseshoe Pass near to Llangollen, park at N53° 01.412 W003° 12.273
From the car park just follow the path NE, the cache is approx 2KM from here.
Please do not underestimate this cache, although the path is clear and well made, you are at times very exposed, there is no natural shelter at the summit so please go prepared. The cache can be reached by Mountain Bike (Which I have done many times) it’s a long hard push but the blast back down is great, also this cache could be reached by extremely fit parents who have and are prepared to push an outdoor type buggy to the top.Original Contents of the Cache are – Geo’s Bug TB, water pistol, parachute figure x2, mini karabiner, LED karabiner, playing cards, mini bag, water bombs, Welsh Flag, Eye glass repair kit, tyre levers and repair kit.
