This was originally a multi, but as you'll note from the logs, the
clues faded so it is now a traditional.
It's best to park at N50.52.086, W001.17.417.
This is a fantastic place to bring children, if you do, be sure to
walk around the lake and bring some bread or grain for the ducks.
There are stepping stones as well, if your kids are anything like
mine, bring a spare set of clothes.
During the summer I expect you will have some bother with leaf
cover although there are clearings to regain your bearings, however
I have located the cache in an area which gets reasonable satellite
reception near the cache.
It may be useful to examine the footpath map in the car park to get
familiar with the area so that it's not too worrying if you do lose
reception.
You don’t need to leave the main paths until the last 15 metres or
so.
In the winter/rain you will want to change your shoes before you
get back into the car.
The cache and dash route will be just over a mile in total, the
scenic route will be a bit longer, but not much.
The area around the lakes is suitable for the disabled, however
there are some steep slopes approaching the cache which will be
tricky.
If you are the type who likes a longer walk, after you have found
the cache, follow the main path the River Hamble. Here you can join
the Solent Way, walk downstream for 0.25 mile and cross the gravel
causeway back to the mainland and return by turning left when you
get back to the road. It says the causeway can be submerged at some
High tides, I've never seen it happen, but if it is be careful.
My first cache, hope you enjoy it. Please be gentle around the
hiding place, this bit isn't challenging. Please tell me when the
hiding place becomes too obvious to non-cachers so that I can
change it before it gets discovered.
