EUREKA! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

Steiner Flat Road in Douglas City follows the Trinity River partway as it bends around Weaverville. Cache is in a campground about .5 mi. off Hwy 3/299, easy to get to. Campground gate is closed in winter due to steep (paved) access road, but you can still walk in. If you plan to spend any more time here than finding the cache, there is a self-register day-use fee. Use caution around mining tailings; these are piles of loose rocks and some reptiles. Travel bug will arrive soon.

Cache is in an ammo box. It contains a log book and pen, a key ring, 4 local interest post cards (maybe bring one to replace one?), 4 fishing flies appropriate to our area, 2 trout lures, spare AA batteries, and a dog toy. There is also a deck of 54 playing cards, with a note on the back of each. (I thought of this before learning about "travel bugs"). Note says "This card came from SAR603 Douglas City, Ca. Play it forward". Please take 1 card to carry to the next cache. Please say in the log what card you took and why (e.g. 2 of hearts because I love my two kids, A of diamonds because I just got engaged...).I ask anyone finding one of these cards to enter which it is, where it was found & where it went. This is akin to 54 "messages in a bottle" idea. Finally, there is a surprise item related to this site and the cache name. PLEASE leave it in the cache for obvoius reasons!
