Geocache Description:

Flag Counter

FTF

Open only between 9am to 5pm ... Suggested parking area near the war memorial at the 'whispering wall'. This cache is located in the Botanical gardens and therefore there is actually no cache, the gardeners frown at you walking around in their displays :)

Entry is free but there is a gold coin donation box near the start if you feel like contributing.

The project is made up of five discernable elements and experiences. It begins with a pathway that moves through a series of gardens to an elevated walkway that carries you through a canopy of mature native Karri, Marri, Tingle and Jarrah trees. Then allows panoramic views of the Swan and Canning Rivers to the south, as well as offering an understanding of the significance of the site to the local Nyoongar people.

Your objective should you accept it is to locate Ground Zero on the 'landmark' made of the materials in the cache title. To log this cache you will be required to confirm your arrival at GZ by submitting a photo of yourselves on the landmark (without revealing what the landmark actually is) and also emailing us your answers to the following 4 questions. For those geocachers that are digitally challenged just email the answers for confirmation.

  • At GZ there are metal plates underfoot "What natural emblem is embossed onto these plates?"
  • What ancient creature do the Nyoongar people say created this small valley on its way to the Swan River?
  • What three natural ingredients are used to make glue?
  • Near the lookout is a plaque with 5 native birds on it ... what are the names of 3 of these birds in the Nyoongar's native tongue.

Email TLC

If you haven't been through here 'b4' walk to the end of the walkway and follow it back (turn right at the end) to the carpark through the Water gardens display you wont be disappointed.
