Geocache Description:

I think the cache has been vandalized so I'm taking it off line till I can go have a look for it.

Located in the Harry Smith Conservation Area in the village of Ameliasburgh. A 3 season cache. About 200 metres from parking area on trail. Trail may be slightly overgrown in summertime.

**While the trail up the hill on the north side of the pond is worthwhile, it does NOT lead to the cache. You need to start by the cemetery.**

This cache is hidden near the remains of the old "bee tree", a gigantic white pine that used to have a colony of honey bees. The tree was killed by a lightning strike about 20 years ago, and the area is now overgrown. (see photo)

This cache lets people explore the old Mill Pond at the Harry Smith Conservation Area in Prince Edward County, approximately a 15 minute drive south of Belleville.

The park is accessible by a marked road (Purdy Lane) in the village of Ameliasburgh. The road not plowed during the winter. Look for the grave of Al Purdy, one of Canada's most famous poets, in the Grove Cemetery nearby. There are also remains of several early homesteads visible. The cache is approximately 200 metres from the parking area. The trail will be a bit overgrown in the summer months, and there will be many mosquitos!
