Geocache Description:

The name given to a heavily eroded outcrop of calciferous sandstone on the southern slopes of West Lomond at the head of Glenvale. Although the Protestant reformer John Knox may never have preached here, it was the scene of Presbyterian conventicles held during the 'Killing Times' in the late 17th Century. Parking and Information at Lat: N56.14.881 Long: W003.20.186

There is an amazing rock formation called the Bonnet Stane not too far from this cache that you may want to visit. This is a block of sandstone eroded by the elements into a very precarious-looking lump on a sort of stalk. I have no idea how long it takes to form such a thing, but the weather and the inexpert name-carving continue to take their toll, and it may soon be named the Rocky Outcrop formerly known as the Bonnet Stane. For anyone who wants to go there, it is located at N56 14.954 W3 18.552 The cache is a tupperwear type container covered with a green plastic bag.
