The location was once an entrance to Durand Eastman Park. Now it's a ghost of its former self: road signs, but no road.
Fifty years ago this was a much busier intersection with a small gas station. Even in my youth, there were three ways to get to the lake from this point: via the ex-road, via the continuation of Pinegrove Ave north, and via a dirt road to Camp Eastman. Now, alas, we're landlocked.
The cache is located above the ground and consists of a 35mm film container with a log and pencil stub. Fairly simple and physically undemanding.
NOTE: A few have expressed concern about being too close to backyards. The road, its shoulder to the south and all the land north of it are all part of the park, and a fair number of dogwalkers park in the turnoff and use this area.
