Geocache Description:

The town of Stanwood originally was called Centreville. In the latter 1800's an enterprising young man by the name of D.O. Pearson moved to Centerville. He established a general store, became the Postmaster and the town's first mayor. Mayor Pearson's wife's maiden name was Clara Stanwood. Thus, the mayor renamed the town to Stanwood in a loving tribute to his wife. The mayor built his house in 1890. This house is still there, has been rennovated and was placed on the National and State Registers for historic places in 1973. Let's go see the mayor's house. Go to the above listed coordinates. You can park right in front of the house. Be sure and check out the Widow's Walk on top of the house. Just to the left of the house is the Stanwood Area Historical Society's museum. This is a quality museum full of artifacts, tools, photographs, etc. of how things were and looked many moons ago. And its free! It really is something to experience. The house and the museum are the result of thousands upon thousand of volunteer hours by area residents and donations by same. The hours to tour the house and museum are posted on the front of the house. Or you can call 360-629-6110 to schedule a time to do a tour. While standing in front of the mayor's house, count the number of white, vertical posts on both sides of the walkway directly in front of the door. This will be your "A" number. Go to N 48.14.528 W 122.21.850. There are five art forms in front of the building. On the side of one of them is a year date. This is your "B" number. Go to N 48.14.538 W 122.21.518. Locate the three, blue mail depository boxes near the street. Locate the most easterly of the mailboxes and look on it's east side. There is a year date stamped on it. This will be your "C" number. Go to N 48.14.525 W 122.21.262. This is a new business in town. The business has two words to its name. How many letters are in these two words? Add five to it. This is your "D" value. Final cache coordinates: N [A - 10]. D . [C - 1600] W 122. [D + 7]. [B - C + 81]

You can park on the shoulder of the road across the street from the cache site. The hard part is remaining under the radar to avoid detection by the motoring muggles. The cache is in a 5x7 shallow rubbermaid plastic container enclosed in a ziploc bag. Have fun and please try and be as discreet as possible.
