This cache is at 4933 feet in elevation and not quite three miles up Blodgett Creek from the trailhead (N46*16.114 W114*14.520). There are two interesting geographical sights near the cache I wish to point out. As you approach the cache area but are still on the south side of the creek notice that the creek disappears entirely within the rockslide. When at the cache look up to the top of the mountain ridge to the southwest and notice the natural arch.
Tiera Del Fuego (“Land of Fire” in Spanish) is Applejack’s son. He is therefore also of the “Sundance 500” blood line. Fuego is in Oregon right now at a therapeutic riding facility working with handicapped people. Applejack, DeJavu and Billy-Jack helped me place this cache for him and as such it is accessible by horseback. By the way DeJavu was the first horse to cross the pack bridge back in 1988 when we helped Backcountry Horsemen rebuild the pack bridge after it was burned in a forest fire.
In the “ammo can” I have placed a logbook – please log in. You might tell whether you came by foot or horseback and where you are from. There are also some pens, puzzles, and all sorts of goodies and a few horse related items. It is an “equestrian theme” cache but any trade items are welcome. There is even an MTA (New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority) card donated to the cache by a friend from N.Y.
This cache would be quite hard in the winter but possible. I would put it at a 4 in the winter.
