Geocache Description:

This one is a short drive off I-5 with a short walk. The town of Chehalis originlly was called Saundersville after Stuart Schuyler Saunders. In 1851 he staked a 640-acre claim on the land that is now downtown Chehalis. When the town was incorporated in 1872 and became the Lewis Country seat, its name was changed to Chehalis to honor the local Native Americans. Chehalis is nicknamed the (City of Roses) because of the profusion of rosebushes planted throughout the downtown area. Now that you have a bit of history about this town happy hunting and cache on.
