Geocache Description:

The 9th of 12 caches placed broadly along the Ribble Way - this one is close to the massive Hull Pot.

The Ribble Way is a long distance walk of 69 miles, commencing at the Dolphin Inn at Longton at the Ribble estuary, passing through Preston, Penwortham, Ribchester, Clitheroe, Gisburn, and along the upper reaches of the Ribble via Settle, Stainforth, to its source on the moors at Gavel Gap, beyond Ribblehead in North Yorkshire.

Hull Pot is an awesome rift in the moorland above Horton in Ribblesdale. This huge chasm, 60 feet deep, has been caused by the collapse of a cave roof, making it the largest natural surface opening in the country. It is normally dry but features a waterfall when the streams are in spate.

The footpath from Horton eventually leads to Pen-y-ghent where you may wish to find Dave & Maerwen's cache before completing a circular route back to the village.

Please take care near the pot and please ensure that the cache is invisible from all angles when you replace it. This is a popular area and whilst I was placing the cache, even on a wet Monday afternoon in autumn, two lots of walkers went by.
