Geocache Description:

This multi-cache will consist of 4 virtual caches with coordinates posted at each of the first 3 locations guiding you on to the last location where you will find the ammo can cache. Read the story below and imagine being my Uncle Doc in this small town, trying to uphold law and order back in the fifties!

Uncle Doc was the town cop at the time and usually had a way of embelishing his stories but here are the details. Uncle Doc said he was alerted by Mr. Tosseth, the grocery store owner, that old Steve had spent the last couple of days across the street doing some heavy drinking and felt that Doc should tell him to go home and tend to his family and chores.

So Uncle Doc went in (1st location) and told Steve it was time to go home. Steve agreed to do that but when he got in his old pickup truck, he headed east out of town. Doc knew what this meant. Old Steve would just go to the neighboring town and continue his drinking, so at this point Doc decided to change Steve’s plans. With his red light flashing and the siren on, Doc went after Steve.

According to Uncle Doc, Steve had no plans of stopping but just as they got out of town a few miles, right where the Soo Line railroad tracks used to cross old highway # 36, (2nd location) along came the train.

Well the brakes were bad on Steve’s old truck and to avoid a collision with the train, Steve had to take to the ditch and came to rest against a corner fence post. Uncle Doc was really mad by now. He pulled Steve from behind the wheel of that old truck and said, “Steve, you’re going with me.” Doc took him back to town.

(3rd location) Well, by the next morning Steve had sobered up. Doc brought Steve a couple of hard boiled eggs, a piece of bologna and some strong coffee. He told Steve to eat up and then he would take him out to get his truck out of the ditch, but Doc added that they would be making a detour along the way. Steve asked why and Doc said,” you’ll see.”

Well Doc took Steve for a short ride. When they got there, Doc explained to Steve that if he hadn’t been able to stop for that Soo Line train the day before, Steve would have become a permanent resident of this hallowed ground.

(4th location) Steve admitted that he needed to clean up his act and promised Doc he’d try to tend to business more and take better care of his family. Well, Steve fell off the wagon a couple times, but all in all, he did become a better local citizen and as Uncle Doc would like to say, “I think I helped make old Steve a better man.”

Well anyway, observe some small town architecture, notice the unusualness of the final location, sign the log book, and if you see two really old guys riding around in a really old police car, waive, it might be Uncle Doc and Steve!

Along with the log book, the ammo can contains, key chain, sunglasses, small super ball, screw driver set, wooden nickel, (worth a beer at #10 Saloon in Buffalo N.D.) rattle snake rattle, letter opener, marble necklace, small knife, toy sheriffs badge, small carabiner, finger nail file kit, etc.
