Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is located along a part of the Nokiidaa Trail System linking the Mabel Davis Conservation Area, George Richardson Park and the Rogers Reservoir.

The area is rich in wetlands that skirt the Holland River and supports a wealth of birds, wildlife, and vegetation. The trails are both dog friendly and bike friendly. There are remnants of a "Ghost" Canal System of locks, which were built in the early 1900's and then abandoned without ever having been used. The system was 85% complete in 1911 when work was halted. The system would have been used as a transportation gateway to the Trent Canal System. Because this hiking trail is close to the Holland River and its small tributaries, there are a lot of bridges. Thus the theme of this multi-cache "Locks and Bridges".

This is a "4 stage" multi-cache. The first three stages will provide you with the routing information you need to ultimately locate the final, main cache. The final, cache is a regular cache (1 litre ice cream container) containing the log book and of course several trade items.

The first 3 stages are micro caches (1 blastic bottle, a sucrets tin and a tiny altoids tin). Each micro cache container has only a single clue (a letter of the alphabet) that you can cross reference to real GPS co-ordinates using the key (table) provided below and then use these co-ordinates to locate the next stage of the multi-cache.

The co-ordinates at the top of this page are the actual co-ordinates of the Stage #1 micro cache. This cache is close to the parking lot (there can be plenty of geo-muggles nearby). You can park here and then proceed on foot or bike to the other stages. Stage #1 contains the clue to help you find Stage #2. Stage #2 contains the clue to help you find Stage #3 and Stage #3 contains the clue to help you find the Final Stage Cache.

The entire round trip distance for the hike should be less than 3 km. Enjoy!

You will find the cache location to be within 10 metres of a rather busy trail. Please be discrete so not to give away the hiding spot to casual hikers, etc.
