Geocache Description:

Just below the Crags of Great Wanney, 1.2 km over the moor from Sweethope lough.

I have re checked and updated the Coords for this cache

This cache is located below a geological fault line which forms the crags of Great Wanney approximately 1.2km from the road. Well know to the rock climbers of Northumberland, but less of an obvious walking route. The best view of the main crag lies about 100 meters further west from the cache, just past the boundary wall. Take the time to check out the north face of Great Wanney from a safe distance. There are some huge boulders which make a great place for a picnic. If it's warm and dry you may see some climbers performing their vertical ballet. The earliest recorded routes climbed on this crag were posted in 1903 by GW Young in the days of Hemp ropes, Hob nailed boots, tweed jackets and really hard men with time on their hands.

Park at N55 08.424 W002 05.433 opposite Sweethope lough head for a gate in the boundary fence at N55 08.645 W002 05.969 then on to the cache. There is another route in to the cache which is a slightly easier walk through the forest from the north.

cache contains:

key ring tape measure, pen knife, 3 small screw drivers 2 small bouncey balls, crayons, Karabina key ring, Yoyo.
