A largely unknown mecca just a short distance from the highway.
This is a nice place that is hidden away and not far (.5) off the highway. You can start from one of three places. (A) Just north of the Wilson Creek Bridge. (B) From the gated road directly below the cache site. (C) Just past where Hwy. 101 goes into the trees. I’ve been to the site from all three directions. It all depends on how far you want to hike. You will not need to get off the trail to access the location though you may at times appear to be going the wrong direction.
Don’t get tempted to bushwhack unless you are so inclined-stay on the trail. If you do want to bushwhack see plan #2.
Plan #2: After you start walking up the trail from the gated road the trail makes a sharp left. From that point enter in N 41*37.384 W 124*06.446. You will arrive through bushwhacking 371’ at a seasonal lake about an acre in size. It shows up on the map but all that is there is a damn damp bog. From the center of the lake if you proceed 120’ on a course of 125* you will be back on the trail. Follow this to the left and you will arrive back at the original destination. Watch for the bear as he has left his calling cards(?) all over the place.
If you do make it to the middle of the lake the trail loops around to your south at 125* only about 150 feet away! Be aware, This is the 'scenic route.'
Be aware that if you start at the gate there is a blind curve to the south. You will probably unknowingly exercise your sphincter muscle upon leaving.
