Wallace Falls State Park can be very busy in the summer and on
nice weekends, but they have recently expanded the parking lot and
the trails are in excellent condition. This is a good off-season
hike and a fabulous rainy day hike if you are prepared for such
weather. Dogs are welcome on the trails but must be leashed. There
are currently a number of other caches in the park. The park closes
at dusk.
If you have trouble with SATS, follow the Woody Trail to the
Upper Falls. From there continue up parallel to the gorge but at a
SAFE distance for a short way until you find the fabulous
right-angle humpaloop tree (see spoiler
picture). You are looking for an ammo can about 25 feet
straight uphill from there. See the hint. You may have to negotiate
a couple of downed trees. At NO time do you need to get anywhere
close to the edge of the gorge. "Cache seekers assume all risks
involved in seeking a cache."
Here is the original cache page information by Pepper. I've
updated coordinates slightly on June 13, 2005, (original are N47
52.533 W121 38.765):
Located in Wallace Falls State Park just off the Woody Trail
above the viewing area at the Upper Falls. There is a Five Dollar
parking fee involved in this outing, but there are now [a number
of] caches located in the park. Another set of coords I have are
N47 52.531 W121 38.769 NOTE: PRINT OUT THE SPOILER PIC AND TAKE IT
WITH YOU, VERY IMPORTANT.
Update: November 11, 2004

Wallace Falls State park is just beautiful, but the trail to
Falls can sure get busy on the weekends. The Parking area
fills up by 10 or 11 AM so go early take plenty of water and enjoy
the hike.
The cache is a scramble up oh... I'd say 30 yards from the
viewing area.
Hope you have as much fun hunting as we did placing. I had
just a tiny bit of input on this cache placement, Shane likes his
caches to be difficult.
Getting to the Upper Falls Cache will take you past three
beautiful falls and then some, all in all it's just over an eight
mile RT hike.
