This is a short but very scenic hike, that mostly follows a rough trail.
This is a great one for the whole family. It’s in a park that includes a playground, paved bike trail, tennis & basketball courts, and picnic pavilions. So, if you come with kids, be prepared to spend some time. Note that the park is closed in the winter. To begin, park at N 42° 57.853’, W 73° 49.465’, and walk in towards the playground. Although the cache is very close (straight line distance), please take the more scenic route, via the trail. It's a narrow dirt trail that begins in the woods directly behind the playground, behind the blue Oil Mill sign(not the gravel trail). The trail starts out heading away from the cache, but wraps around, generally following the creek (parts of it may be hard to see when the leaves fall). It’s basically easy, but involves a small bit of bushwhacking at the end. The coordinates should be fairly good, but there may be dense tree cover in season. It may get wet and buggy too, depending on the weather/season. After finding the cache, head SE, back to the creek, and follow it towards the SW, to complete the loop back (less than 0.5 miles total).
This cache started out loaded with lots of goodies for kids, and is the point of origin for the “Capital Hopper” travel bug.
