Location is in Old Fort Townsend State Park which requires a state parking fee of $5/day or state sticker which is not available at the park. Start your search at the trail head located past the ranger's quarters.
What do you do with all those paperbacks that you have already read or the books your children have out-grown? Exchange them in our new book cache. We ask that this cache only be used for books (or bugs). Paperbacks work well if they are sealed in a quart-sized baggie.
The cache is actually two containers rubberbanded together and double wrapped in black plastic garbage bags. We may replace these containers later for better ones.
Once you find the cache and choose your book, you will find labels inside by the log book. (If they run out, please let me know and I will put more there.) Please put a label on the inside cover of the book with your call sign and date. Once you are done reading your new book, you can pass it onto another cache or just keep it. Our family enjoys reading, so we thought that this way would be a great way to pass around the gift of literacy.
We did have some difficulty with the coordinates with the tree cover. We took actually six different readings, so it may not be so easy to find. The trail where this cache is located can be difficult if you are not used to hiking. There are many roots and ups and downs in the lightly marked path. Use caution and wear good ankle supporting boots. It can get muddy and slippery after a shower in addition to the roots.
