Kawaewae Heiau (hay-ee-ow)
PLEASE TREAT THIS AREA WITH RESPECT YOU ARE A GUEST Located outside of this pre-Christian Hawaiian place of worship, this cache will bring you to a place of serenity and beauty, watched over by elders, both nearby and from the past. The velvet green curtains of the Koolau Mountains and view of the lagoon and ocean frame the breathtaking vista. You may well want to sit and meditate awhile here. Breezes cool you after your steep but short ascent from a windward suburban dead end street. Park to allow ample turn around space near the No Parking sign at the end of the road. Park at 21*23.754N 157*47.181W
We did NOT place the cache within the ancient stone walls of the Heiau but you will want to explore and revel in this place of Hawaiian history.
The cache is an ammo box well marked as a geocache. As always it has a log book and pens. There are plenty of other goodies for trade.
NOTE: At the head of the culdesac at the end of the road there are some "No Trespassing" signs - those are intended for the trail that leads along the fence/watrerway. You are going to take the left trail.
NOTE I am hearing of some saying their cords are right on and some saying they were off. Usually once you find the cahe they will be very close! If you could please post your cords so we can evaluate them. Mahalo!
Note on cache maintenance: I will be replacing ammo can and log soon!
