We are doing a bit of a different kind of CITO this time and heading up the Paradyskloof Eden Forest in Stellenbosch to do some alien invasive species hacking.
So, if you've ever wanted to save the fynbos and get a proper workout this is the one for you!
We'll be joining a local group of hackers who know the area well and we'll be heading into the upper sections of the Eden Forest area, which means we'll be climbing a bit higher up the slopes to find those sneaky hakeas and wattles that are trying to take over our beautiful mountain.
it’s going to be a casual vibe and we'll meet at the main gate at 8am sharp.
Then we will walk up to where the work needs to happen. There will be guidance from experts to show us what to pull out and what to leave alone.
What you need to bring:

Proper shoes: Definitely no plakkies/flip-flops please, you need boots or solid tekkies for the loose rocks

Protection: Long pants are best to save your legs from scratches, plus a hat, sunscreen, and preferably some sunglasses to protect your eyes

Water & Snacks: Bring at least a litre of water and, if you wish, some snacks to share

Tools: If you have your own garden shears or durable gloves, bring them along, otherwise there will be some spares to go around

A backpack: You'll need it for all the above.
Please log a Will Attend, but you can always pitch up in any case!
Parking right at the entrance of the forest, as well as a coffee stand, and there are plenty of geocaches placed in the forest to go hunting for afterwards.
