Raingardens are self-watering, low-maintenance gardens designed to protect our rivers and creeks, by capturing stormwater that runs off hard surfaces when it rains.
The one in Charles Mutton Reserve is part of a stormwater harvesting system that uses water from a 48 hectare catchment to irrigate the sportsgrounds and open spaces, saving up to 13 million litres of drinking water per year.
