The Rock was named after Peter Mc Cann, who was an original settler, In 1926, the government constructed a 650,000 gallon dam using the rock catchment. Tennis courts and a cricket pitch were constructed in the vicinity of the rock. In about 1950 a picnic ground was established by the RSL, and an annual sports day was inaugurated.
There is now shelter, BBQs, flushing toilets and a few camp sites a great little spot sheltered by the rock from the wind.
This cache can be driven too if you have a 4x4 or it's a very short walk up a gentle incline.
