Geocache Description:

This is a fairly simple multi cache on the Ironwood Hiking Trail at Sugar Creek Conservation Area.  There will be three steps: the beginning point, a second stage with a physical hide, and the final hide.  All in all, it should not take too long or be too difficult.  The total distance to the hide and back is under one mile.  If you choose to walk the entire trail, it is two miles, but it is not necessary to walk the whole trail for this cache.

To begin, the posted coordinates take you to stage one, or the beginning of the Ironwood Hiking Trail.  In the parking area at the beginning of the trail you will see the standard conservation signs.  Use the information on the signs to fill in the coordinates to get you to stage 2. Stage 2 coordinates are N40 06.0AB W92 36.CDE

"Stays are limited to X consecutive days in a 30 day period."  X+2=AB

The daily limit on Crappie fish allowed to be kept multiplied by 2 then +2 = CD

The 5th number in the Missouri Department of Conservation phone number for the Kirksville office, starting with the area code = E

Use the hiking trail to get very close to stage 2, but the container is just slightly off of the trail.  Once you get to stage 2, find the container, remove the device from the container and use it to locate the final hide, listen carefully.  Should the device fail, there is an extra battery in the container, try changing the battery.  If it still does not work, I have written the coordinates to the final hide on a piece of paper which you will clearly see in the stage 2 container.

The final hide is a short distance from stage 2, a little farther off the trail.  There is minimal bushwhacking required due to the cleared hiking trail, but there is some.  The hiking trail is nice, but it has tall weeds and some semi-steep hills.  This is not a far hike but a short hike with some hills.

Permission for this cache was given via a special use permit granted by the Missouri Conservation Department which will expire in one year.  As always, there will be ticks, various wildlife, thorns, and possible poison plants, so be aware of your surroundings.  The conservation land is open from 0400-2200 hrs.  I recommend only doing this cache during daylight hours.
