This 9 stage multi-cache will take you on a tour of South Park in Lawrence, KS. Please keep in mind that the park is open only from 6AM to 11:30 PM daily. You should NOT be in the park outside of those hours. Also, this is Lawrence, KS. You may see, smell, and hear many interesting things during your visit. This is especially true if there is an event taking place in the park, which is quite common. These interesting things may range from wonderful to terrible depending on your point of view. My advice is to enjoy the adventure and be flexible in the timing of your visit. The final is inside the park and stealth will be necessary. It may simply not be possible to stealthily retrieve the cache container at certain times.
South Park is the first and oldest park in town. It is often the location of public events, protests, gatherings, and the Lawrence City Band’s Summer Concert series. The Lawrence City Band was the first band in Kansas and has been performing since 1854. The band gave a concert with brand new instruments, courtesy of Governor Robinson, on August 20, 1863. The next day, William Quantrill raided Lawrence killing four of the band members. Both the town and the band rebounded. By 1900, the band had grown large enough that a permanent location was needed. It was then that efforts began to build the South Park Gazebo.

In order to complete this multi-cache and find the location of the log, you must visit each stage and record the answer to the question provided. Then, you will need to enter these answers into Certitude to receive the coordinates for the final. Enter the answers as one long string into Certitude. Place a 'dash' or 'hyphen' between each answer when you enter it into Certitude. For example, if the answers were "100", "Kansas", and "George", you would enter: "100-Kansas-George". Once you reach stage 1, you will not need to cross any street, driveway, or parking lot to find the final. Ready? Let's go!
1. At the posted coordinates, you should see a large sign with text that begins "Historic South Park". What is the lone dollar amount listed on the sign? You'll just need the three digits, no dollar sign.
2. At the second stage, you should see a similar, but smaller sign. What year is listed on the sign?
3. At the third stage, you should see a really cool looking archway. This sculpture, named "Blue and Gold" is made of limestone, reclaimed steel, and old glass insulators. The limestone in this project was salvaged from the demolition of the McCollum Hall dormitory on the KU campus. How many limestone pieces are there in the archway (two digits)?
4. At the fourth stage, you should see a bench. Whose bench is this? Just record the first name (5 letters).
5. At the fifth stage, you should see another bench. What did they make together (5 letters)?
6. At the sixth stage, you should see a memorial marker on the ground. Who is our friend? Just record the last name (4 letters).
7. At the seventh stage, you should be standing next to the Gazebo. It was erected by whose band (4 letters)?
8. At the eighth stage, you should be standing next to the Roosevelt Fountain. This fountain was dedicated on August 31, 1910 with President Theodore Roosevelt in attendance. The fountain was moved to this location in 1965. What is the first name of the founder (6 letters)?
Enter your answer into Certitude as:
